Version 0.1 · draft 0.2 in review
An open, JSON-based file format for describing real things: one object, a room or a whole home. Each object can carry its shape, materials, place and history, so it can move between apps without losing what it is.

Specification under CC BY 4.0, schema in the public domain, reference code under Apache 2.0.
Photograph or film a room with your phone and Aureality builds a 3D map of it. Tap any object to see what it is and decide where it belongs. Made for decluttering and moving home.
Aureality makes tools that help people understand and sort the spaces they live in. aureality.info gives an overview of every Aureality site and is the home of the .are format.
Guides for capturing a room, correcting an object and exporting your home as an .are file will live here. The first ones arrive with the private alpha.
Earth imagery: NASA Visible Earth, Blue Marble and Black Marble (public domain). 3D: three.js (MIT). Daylight on the globe follows the real position of the Sun.
